Today we’re going to show you how it easy it is to setup a two-locomotive consist with an NCE Power Cab, and then we'll pull a long train around the GVL. Also a quick coupler mod for an old Tyco gondola car.

Special thanks and a shoutout to Ron Moen for calling my attention to page 58 in the NCE Powercab book, where you can program up to 6 recalls. I thought, and stated in this video that you could only have 3. That is going to make my life better!! Thank you Ron.

Nice fun video. If you check page 58 in the powercab manual it tells how to set cab for up to 6 recalls.

Stirrup, I believe they call that where the conductor can ride the side of the car. Anyway layout looks nice great idea on that body mounted coupler!

Thanks for the instructional video! I have the NCE PowerCab myself. All I ever learned was the basic information like locomotive addressing and the sound effects. Your video about creating a locomotive consist was simpler to understand than what was written in the instruction guide!

I have that hopper car. I just got a huge bag of mixed of model trains with HO and Lionel O scale at the thrift store where I work at for less than $20

Cool video, Dan. I didn't know the powercab set up some dedicated consist buttons, that is convenient. I did a video just showing a train that was as long as I could fit on the layout, haha. It was pretty fun figuring out which combination of cars would do it without crashing into the tail.
I think if you put a sticker on each rolling stock that derails or decouples when it should not, you will soon have your next list of small projects for the bench!
Whenever I've upgraded the tyco / mantua trucks, I use a thin shim of styrene between the new coupler box and underframe for a very good center shank coupler height. I think .5mm but I can't recall. It's very thin indeed but makes all the difference when it comes to consistent performance from the coupler.
