I absolutely cannot stand YouTube search! It's awful. Don't start giving me recommendations or anything else because I'm there specifically to search.

Man, poor Dan he's just selling his products and services and LInus is forcing him to get paid more I hope he can recover from this

My father called me to tell me he's divorcing my mother and selling the house I live in while I was watching this show, I don't think I'll forget this one

The reason the ancient WAN shows do well is simply because of its length. The sleep watchers let the algorithm put whatever on, and most people wacth WAN start to finish. So the retention is amazing, and coz people are asleep the retention is perfect so the vids keep being pushed

Linus with the new hair, no beard, and the button up is a dramatic change. Looks like a whole new person. 😂
Evandr
perfect timing, I loaded in 30 seconds after it ended

WAN Show post credit scenes!
That's a new standard that needs to exist.

I'm part of the reason that old live streams perform so well, I'll put on literally any ltt Livestream, turn on my fan and fall asleep instantly

I just realized the green/red/blue shell scenario Linus is discussing regarding SBMM *is* a form of skill-based matchmaking, just with 3 discreet steps. The player he was against was effectively smurfing to get into a lower SBMM column, something that we all hate in SBMM too.
If I want to play a close game, I'll play ranked. If I want to be first, last, or somewhere in between I'll play casual. In SBMM, being first or last is rare, as everyone performs the same and everyone does "ok". I want to do bad. I want to do good, too.

Me watching this while having zero friends.

Spiffing Britt made a video explaining what keeps pushing watch time on old WAN show vods for you. It's us, people who fall asleep with YouTube! The algorithm is very giddy to serve us long vids that we seem to just get high retention on. It's actually making it so every 3-4 vids I get served are WAN shows, no matter the subject I started on (and, no offense, it's getting a bit annoying). 100% a YouTube issue they don't really have an incentive to fix.
Love the show!

No matter what I've been watching in a given week, sometimes no LTT videos, I could have 10 non LTT videos que'd up and it never fails, If I fall asleep with Youtube going I wake up to a random WAN show episode. It's not a complaint really, I enjoy the WAN show and the LTT crew, I just thought it was kinda funny that it happens all the time.

I did have a bit of a chuckle when Linus started talking about being happy and a picture of Yvonne in the LTT underwear popped up in the merch message frame. Excellent timing! 😂❤

The argument against SBMM is that Ranked is where you should go if you want to play with those of your same skill and sweat every game. Pubs is the equivalent of shooting hoops with friends or randoms and ranked is the NBA. If you add SBMM to shooting hoops then you’re losing the casual game experience and everything feels like ranked.
Another argument is that people are rebelling against the manipulative “retention-based matchmaking” that most modern games have. They give you one easier game to make you feel good then two or three harder games, rinse and repeat (COD is pretty bad about this one). Apex also has matchmaking maybe a little over tuned because of I do well for a match or two then suddenly I’m literally playing against the best in the world and my squad gets wiped by nrg Sweet (literally happened to me)
Griffinx
The big problem with skill based matchmaking for me is how I can't relax or play with worse weapons, but even more importantly I can't play with my friends who aren't good at the game because they'll just constantly be outmatched without any way to have fun.

Buying an AI friend that they can take away and makes us pay to keep it safe. This is bad.

The thing about Skill based matchmaking, the argument that people that don't like it have is that it makes every single match a ranked match, and every single match a high effort match.
"If we wanted to play a high effort, high skill match, we would play ranked, I want a low effort, low stakes, no matter if I make mistakes for not playing perfectly, relaxed for fun match".
The idea is that the fifo system can have Olympians and random bobs in the same team, but who cares if the Olympian bests you while you best the bobs, you are playing for low stakes anyway.
While in Skill based matchmaking, if you make a mistake, that can cost your team the match, every match is high stakes and high effort, why should they be? There's ranked, it's right there for those who want that. This is casual matchmaking.

The thing about the skill based matchmaking is that it's so tight at the upper end that they literally bump you down to a 1.0 kd. This is obviously not what cod used to be like with it. The main issue is that there isn't a "public" playlist any more, it's just ranked with the cheese. I want the skill based to be looser above a certain skill level. Not flat out get rid of it, just so that players can go off, and it doesn't feel like an extremely hard ranked match every single match. There's no variety in games anymore. Edit: they do have a ranked playlist already, so pubs should be looser than ranked. It has also been explained about team balancing. It basically offsets the teams that the top player on each team has to carry or you lose the match. I also have lost my enthusiasm for getting better at the game, because you literally dont know if you are getting better at the game or not. The game doesn't let you "chill and play cod" anymore
