My "ultimate summer song" was Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones in 1968; hearing that song always takes me back to my preteen days basking in the sun by a lake. And number two would be Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze a year earlier. When I hear that one, I am reminded of sleeping out on the screened porch of our house on warm humid nights.

My best summer song was released July 1966 by The Lovin Spoonfuls " Summer In The City". The summer was super hot too....I spent most of it at the lake!!!! Great girls too!

In 2nd grade on the last day of school, we of course had a party. Each kid was to bring in a 45 of their favorite song to play. I took my brother's 45 of "Schools out" and shocked the he'll out of my teacher. Unfortunately the 45 got broken on the walk home and I didn't want to tell my brother I'd borrowed it because I hadn't asked. After dinner my teacher called to ask my parents if they knew what sort of music I was listening to and I had to confess. My brother and I still laugh about it.

I've played "Surfin' USA" on my saxophone back in 4th grade. "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Croft reminds me of summertime.

It wasn’t a radio single, but I nominate “Summer Days” from the Partridge Family in 1971.

How could you not include "Beach Baby" by First Class?

Seriously? When you reference "Rolling Stone", it is the magazine and what was written in it. Yet you are always showing a photo of the band called The Rolling Stones. There is a difference.

Load of cobblers; I've never heard of most of these, and even then not many remind me of summer.
