Star Trek: The Motion Picture - 'Warp 7' scene (fan-edit with slightly unused score)

This is what this clip would look like in a possible newly-recreated Director's Edition of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" for the film's future Blu-ray re-release (to contain both the remastered theatrical cut and the newly-recreated Director's Edition with additional scenes and visual effects originally created for the DVD-only Director's Edition but re-created in High Definition just like the re-created--or recomposited--visual effects used for upcoming Blu-ray releases of TV's "Star Trek: The Next Generation", which began with "The Next Level" and will continue with the remastered first season): with a complete musical cue. There is a slight trim on a shot of Captain James T. Kirk overseeing the warp sequence after a shot of the refitted Constitution-class Federation starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701 jumping into warp speed.

40 years later this warp effect is still awesome!

I remember the late director, Robert Wise made an observation about this scene & the Enterprise herself & it was something that honestly never occurred to me until he said it, but of course makes total sense - Spock & Scotty between them, correct the fault in the imbalance of the ships engines - but the _real_ reason the Enterprise now works properly & at full power is because before she was still missing one of her irreplaceable parts - Spock.
Now that he was back on board & the original crew were together once more, she 'feels' complete again.

This was such an incredible scene. Seeing Mr. Spock and Scott standing there in front of the matter/antimatter reactor watching the effects of their work, just sends chills. You feel extreme pride.

I love the fanfare when the ship reaches Warp 7.

Everything up to this point was uneasy, fragile and Kirk had a stick up his rump. The moment that things go right, the crew is unified and confidence is restored. Kirk’s wink and Chekov’s excitement speak volumes. It feels genuine.

I like the Transition to Warp with the gliding along with minimal streaking. once the speed has stabilised.

Some things just never grow old, seeing the Enterprise going to warp is one of them.

Captain Kirk says more with that wink @ 1:15 than any of Picard's ramblings in his entire career.

I prefer the male computer voice and much of the sound from '79.

*I wish they hd kept this warp effect. It's so much more dynamic than the boring rubberband effect from subsequent Star Treks.*
