Drought in Somalia has displaced at least 1 million people since it began in January 2021, and approx 7.1 million people are facing ‘acute food insecurity,' according to the World Food Programme. The drought level is the worst in 40 years, and studies show that it has been exacerbated by the climate crisis.

Other countries in the Horn of Africa, including Ethiopia and Kenya, are also struggling with the drought and food shortage, with more than 20.5 million people in the region experiencing a hunger crisis.
