We had a brief moment between them as Sae teased Rin, leading him to the realization that he hates himself more than anyone else and that he is the one who needs to be broken.

This had been a recurring feeling since the beginning of their backstory, with Rin constantly chasing his older brother and trying to gain recognition. His initial goal was to be second best after all. However, his story was destined to end badly from the start, and it was nice to see him finally decide once and for all that he had to let go of those emotions.
