Why would anyone dislike a man that did so much for karate to be recognized and spreaded around the world? Even tne more classical shorin styles got benefit from this. Once karate was spreaded in japan it didnt take long for japanese people to find out about other classical okinawan styles like shorin and goju ryu. Karate in general owes a lot to funakoshis efforts regardless what his students did later when they created even a more modern and less classical way of karate.

I started in Wado Ryu, and absolutely loved it, but now I do Shorin Ryu. I had to change due to schedule conflicts.

I'm loving Shorin Ryu, it is definitely interesting to see the differences in interpretation. My Wado Ryu dojo didn't put enough emphasis in the Jujutsu aspect, which was sad given my background in Judo and Aikido.
