Just a note, that picture at 19:35 is not a graphic, it is an actual picture of AJ translating the old-school spells into modern day 5e context. On top of the recording and finding all those pictures, and the madman did it in like a day or two. If that alone isn't worth a like on the video and maybe a subscription to the channel, idk what is.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the channel challenge to get part 1 of the History of Netheril, we missed the mark by a little bit but AJ was generous enough to give it to us anyways. Plus there is a part 3 planned somewhere down the line. If you want to get that, share this video around, lets get this discussion going.

As promised, the links.

Another incredibly enjoyable video! My 4 month old son also enjoys listening to your videos.
I am going to once again humbly request an ecology of Primordials if you would be so kind.

I always loved the idea of making a floating city and if I could I would. However I would secure my little floating island with sturdy chains connected to surrounding mountains just in case it did decide to fall out of the sky.

Master Pickett, I would very much enjoy a part three. Especially considering the possibilities available near the end of Rime of the Frostmaiden. Your videos are always a huge help and the little embellishments help paint wonderful pictures in my head. I would be remiss if we missed out on the final part of the 'greatest' empire of faerun. Thank you for all of your efforts.

4:20 I'm sorry but you're going to have to reroll that d6.
6:00 Here we see Mel Gibson teaming up with two awakened Hill Giant poops to defend Scotland from the Orcs [as seen in Braveheart].
6:01 That Eagle is so badass, it fights on the ground on the front lines....
15:24 So wealthy and opulent were the Netheril, that they actually bought name brand toilet paper.
17:46 Oh wow, Disney's TaleSpin remake actually looks watchable. I hope Darkwing Duck is next.
20:19 He killed a 40K Space Marine and took his belt buckle!
22:46 The invention of astral heroin didn't cause the downfall of the Netheril empire, but it sure didn't help.
22:56 Leave it to a wizard overcomplicate a basic fart...
24:45 Quite suddenly, he realized that holistic medicine was a bad choice.
24:59 In the 'cooler' enclaves, medical marijuana was widely available.
26:46 Moses, parting the Red Sea to free the Jews.
27:48 The knob who invented the accursed Fushigi Ball.
29:13 Blurring the line between wizard robes and a regular old dress.
32:16 Moon Prism Power, Make Up!
34:22 The capture of a Golden Snitch.
35:01 Looney Tunes head trauma physics.
38:34 That wolf on the right is like "Good God I want to eat that rabbit. Curse you old man!".
43:15 The origin of Lobsterfest.
46:57 The very first non-Asian Dance Dance Revolution champion.
48:51 The secret truth of Dinosaur extinction.
49:24 I take a moment to consider making a post with this many irrelevant timestamps.
49:25 i do it anyway.

Mr Pickett you are now my reference whenever I pick up a Salvatore novel and have no idea what a "shade" is or something similar.

As you mentioned in your intro, this is indeed one of my favorite things to listen to during my daily commute. I base a lot of the content in my Homebrew campaign on what I learn through this video series. You have truly been a great influence on my work thank you.

Netheril is an interesting empire as are its archmages. I will stop saying my ancient archmages are OP and now say they are boring. Netheril would have a hard time translating to Loom of Magus in the way of spell levels. In Loom of Magus, all spells above level 9 in power are level 10... the only issue is cost and difficulty. Like the 10th level spell Wish II (aka Gods' Wish, Genie High Wish, Advanced Wish, Break Reality, etc) can do just about anything... it's a negotiation between DM and player. It has the negative side-effects and other costs of Wish (9th level) only the negotiation is what else the player is willing to pay up, going from a mere double negative of Wish to sacrificing his life to having other spellcasters cast Wish or Wish II in the same spellcasting, etc. Also, like other 10th level spells (I use a MP system), more MP's may be required to attain the effect. Generally, wizards cast spells costing 1 MP per spell level. Level 10 spells usually cost 10 MP but they can be higher.
