I Paid $75 for a BROKEN Xbox One X from eBay - Let's Try To Fix It! The Xbox One X didn't have any power and it turned out the ribbon cable for the power button was messed up. But that wasn't the only problem. There also was no display once I got the Xbox to turn on. I replaced the redriver chip and that fixed the display issue... but there was still another problem: an E106 error.

This guy is fantastic. Even when he can't fix the devices, we learn something anyways.

If you are still having this issue I just fixed mine. I removed the hdd from the xbox and hooked it up to my pc. Accessed the system update 1 partition and deleted all the files and reinstalled the hdd. Then took a flash drive (any drive over 8gb will work) and formatted that to NTFS and extracted OSU1 to it and inserted it into the USB port on the xbox. Booting the xbox by holding for 15 seconds, the bind button on the side and the eject button and pressing the power button. The console then fully went through with the system update. Afterwards i just had to redo the initial setup but all my games and saves were still there. Hope this helps someone else.

Hi Steve, .E100 could also be that it was in xbox insider program as the HDD failed and it needs the insider update. Look at the version number at the bottom of the screen.

I still don't know how people end up selling perfectly working consoles as "broken" or "for parts"

Great video Steve as always. One thing which might point you to the issue is either checking the log files on a computer or you can look at the percentage of the update. If the update fails at 72% you for sure have a disc drive issue, maybe a mismatch, faulty drive or Microsoft arm ic failure. 58%-59% is usually a hard drive formatting or partitioning issue, 1% is a software version mismatch and 0% is pure hard drive error. Thats based on my experience with these at least. Hopefully you revisit this issue in the future because it definitely isn't the disc drive at fault.

Also, check the mosfets around the hdd power connector and the hdd sata cable itself :)

It’s mind blowing how some people treat their electronics, and how often they butcher them when trying to fix them.

I respect you for putting "$75" instead of "75$" in the title.

So frustrating to see it powering on and still not being fixable, grrrr.

I didn't know that you also swap the chips when you place a new disc drive in. Thanks!! Cool video 😎

These videos never fail to entertain me. It's always cool to see someone learn a lot of new things when it comes to repairing game consoles. Plus, seeing them get taken apart and learning all of the little components that make the console run the way it should makes me very interested. I love your content man, keep up the great work👍😁
