Rod Stewart was the star of The Faces, but Ronnie Lane--who wrote Ooh La La and many others--was the heart and soul of the group. A great artist who died too young.

This is actually Ronnie Wood (guitarist who went on to be with The Rolling Stones) singing this song! Rod Stewart was their singer. You have to do “Stay with me” by them to hear Rod Stewart with his perfect rock voice! It has that classic rock sound! It’s one of my favorite songs ever!

Faces were originally called Small Faces, who rechristened themselves after Steve Marriott left the band to form Humble Pie ("Black Coffee"). The three remaining members - keyboardist Ian McLagan, bassist Ronnie Lane, and drummer Kenney Jones - were joined by Ronnie Wood (yes, THE ROLLING STONES' Ronnie Wood), and, of course, Rod Stewart. They only put out four albums before breaking up. "Ooh La La" came off their final album. Other Faces songs include "Stay With Me", "Cindy Incidentally", and "Pool Hall Richard".

A few years ago, there was an Amazon commercial focusing on this song. Good commercial that illustrated the s9ngs meaning perfect

Hands down The Faces are one of the greatest bands of all time. So good! Impossible not to love them. Just fun in the pub rock.

This was a great group in both of its incarnations, The Faces and, earlier, The Small Faces. You need to hear "Itchykoo Park" by the Small Faces. "Stay With Me" and "I'm Losing You" are two more great songs from The Faces. I saw another commentor mention "Maggie Mae", a solo work by Rod Stewart. I find it hard to believe you have not already reacted to that one, but if you haven't, you need to run that one up to the top of your list, as it is an absolute classic, a song people will still be listening to a hundred years from now.

The absolute classic "Faces" tune is "Stay With Me."

*That* song has Rod Stewart on vocals and he delivers an absolutely searing lead vocal

Rod Stewart was in Faces but he's not singing on this track, it's actually Ronnie Wood (been a long time member of The Rolling Stones since this) singing it. Rod didn't think the song was good enough for him, although he did record it with the band he didn't like his take, Ronnie Lane (who wrote the song with Ronnie Wood) also recorded lead vocals but he too wasn't happy. Glyn John's the producer suggested Ronnie Wood give it a try and that's the version that was released.

Rod did his own solo version years later, released in 1998.

One of my favourite groups from the early 70s. Rod Stewart usually sang lead for the Faces, but Ronnie Wood actually sang lead on this. The song was written by guitarist Ronnie Wood (now with the Rolling Stones) and bassist Ronnie Lane. Rod Stewart and Ronnie Lane also recorded the lead vocal, but Ronnie Wood's was the one that was used

This is a rare lead vocal in the Faces by Ronnie Wood. Usually Rod Stewart does the singing.... They were awesome!! Like I said in my other comment, you gotta do their version of the Temptation's song (I know) I'm Losing You

I picture a mom hanging laundry in the front yard of some run down country home. She’s smiling as the song plays, dreaming about when she was a young lady and she was dancing with her love. She has no regrets. She only wishes her man had made it through the war and that they were together again.

Ronnie Laine was the faces...the man that held it all together, Rod Stewart or Steve Marriot both brilliant musicans, Ronnie Laine so underated
