I literally spent an entire day researching a super reflective technique for Emperor’s Children, and all of a sudden your video gets uploaded out of nowhere! Timing! Thank you so much 💖

Nice video! Did you use a holographic paint on typhus at the end? Really like it!

I bet some nids with the holochrome effect of the carapace’s would look amazing.

First off, Alclad II are truly amazing paints. I just wish they weren't so damn hazardeous to use. :( Honestly, been thinking of getting a full mask, just so I can use them without risk.

Now shadows. You don't do shadows on chrome. :) BUT, if you really want to, the only way I've seen it done, is with the Black Chrome.
Nah, it's not shadows as we usually do them, but it's darker.

Varnishing chrome, well, since you add "paint" over the reflection it will dull it to some degree. That said, after watching another video a while back on just this subject. Apparently there's a product out there called "S-02 Chrome Sealer" by E7 Paints that apparently doesn't dull the chrome at all. (Barbatos Rex has a video on it, if you want to see it in action)

Oh forgot. If you cheat with the ground work, then chrome will spank you. (:

tl:dr // Alclad 2 are amazing paints and I loved the Silver Templar chrome edition. Oh and I really wish there were some proper chrome acrylic paints to buy. :(

I feel like if you did a red contrast paint or tamiya clear red over that chrome, the result would be the blood angels scheme from Angels of death (warhammer +)

I know this is a year old video, but I figure I'd weigh in, since you did ask.
You could probably shade the chrome with some heavily thinned down Clear Paints. You'd lose a little of the shine, but shadows aren't really reflective anyways.
Mr. Hobby has some very good clear colours, in particular for this case; Mr Clear Color GX Clear Black. That one should be able to darken down parts of the model without losing too much shine.

Idk man, I can get a perfect gloss black but that damn chrome doesn't fully chrome...it's always cloudy I'm losing my mind

This came out at just the right time! I’m working on doing some chrome on some of my space wolves and this popped up. Thanks for making this.

I wanted a shiny and reflective sword blade. Now I think I can do such a blade.

I am going to watch and like that primer video. Just to boost you

Gotta say, as someone who dabbles in a lot of metallics, this looks pretty awesome. Though I hear your pain on dulling it; that being said even with the wash's dulling the coat down, it still looks significantly reflective to me to read as chrome. Though.... I'm conflicted on using it on a model scale. It certainly looks flashy, but it almost feels like it doesn't quite fit into the rest of the scale. Certainly is the best metallic effects I have ever seen though.

Huge thanks for the product demonstration!

Do you have a video showing how you apply the Citidel's Aethermatic Blue Contrast paint to get the light-up effect? Are their other contrast paint colors able to do the same thing?

Here in the states Hobbytowns carry this. I used to use this to fix the metal on my transformers toys; lol funny you mention toys from the 80s and 90s, turns out... works great!!

These Alclad paints are lacquer, NOT enamel. It even says so on the bottles.

Well I'm sold! I have been wondering about how to do a really bright silver trim on Space Marines, this is definitely it. The Silver Templar looks amazing!
