We picked up this Nobby on our last trip out to Lightning Ridge.
It came from a field where a patch of black opal was recently found, so our hopes are high.
But does it work out?

We've all done it Justin. Bought something which wasn't worth what we thought it was. In this case you paid too much but now you know the risk involved with raw material from this field and I know that you will use this knowledge in the future when buying raw material. In my honest opinion I don’t think there’s anything to learn. It’s a risk. You don’t know what’s inside until you cut it, plain and simple. It comes down to if you have the money to take the risk and do you have enough money that if it fails you can still play the game again. Yes, you can take in the fact that from this certain, undisclosed field that the potch didn’t turn black but then again I guarantee that there’s seam opal coming from this same field that does turn black.
