50 yo man here, stumbled onto this. Long term married but if I were single, I doubt I’d even date. 1. The vast majority of the women I went to high school are obese. It DQ’s 85% of you. I’d rather be dead than be with a fat woman. If you’re over 150, focus first on your weight. I’m fine being alone, but most women aren’t, I get that.

You, on the other hand, need to manage your expectations and keep your list of “dealbreakers” as short as possible if you don’t want your be alone. Keep it to the major things: addictions, bad habits, criminal records, lack of motivation and independence, stuff like that. The problem is your pool isn’t that big and your competition is everybody, women 18 to 60. Some men aren’t single. Some are gay. Some are dead before 50. Some aren’t interested at all. They had a bad divorce and went MGTOW. Our testosterone drops and with it the motivation.

For instance, if you find a man who has a steady income, good values, isn’t an alcoholic, gambler, smoker, druggie, ex-con, DUI, good credit, has health insurance, healthy, contributing to his retirement plan, has a place to live and a car that’s not a beater, he’s pleasant to be around and you enjoy each other and things are smooth and peaceful, but he’s 5’7” and bald, you would do well to run with that.

Lying, there is no place for lying in any relationship. I understand some exaggerating happens. People boast about the past. Being deceitful in any form is disrespectful and I have zero tolerance for that.
