2025 BMW X3 M50 – Better, or Did BMW Mess It Up?

BMW gave the 2025 X3 M50 xDrive a major update - new design, new tech, improved chassis… and yet, not everyone’s convinced it’s better. I am testing the X5 M50, which is powered by a 3L, straight 6 petrol engine.

And now I’m asking the big question: Is this really an upgrade - or did BMW lose some of what made the last one special?

It's a shame BMW is continuing with its huge grilles, the meters replaced by screens, no more BMW style. (Fortunately, Anna's video presentation is excellent, as is every test, well done).

I just ordered an m50 in black. It looks nicer in person. I was disappointed at the reveal months ago but I have been looking to upgrade from my Tiguan and after watching a million reviews, the m50 puts a smile on all those who drive it so an m50 it is.
