That black box connected to the lock didn't have a battery inside I've tried a AA battery and it does not work

I also didn't receive a cable. More importantly, I have gone through the instructions at least a dozen times, following directions and even tweaking them to try and get the fingerprint set up to work. I've gotten blue flashing lights, but no beeps and no set up. Any suggestions?

I didn't receive a cable with my charger. Can I use a standard cable or is it specific to the charger? Thanks
