2022 Kawasaki KLR 650 Adventure (single track again.part 1 )

This is the new Kawasaki 2022 KLR 650 that I bought brand new. At the start of this channel I had just broken over the first 100 miles on this bike, so you are seeing everything on this channel is new to me and new to the bike.

Hi Bill - someone might have mentioned this already, but here goes. I am 68 and a past dual sport rider on smaller bikes. I now am riding a KLR 650 too. I stick primarily to dual track, forest, and gravel roads. However my dual sport experience taught me 2 big things that will apply to your KLR too. Momentum is your friend. Most of your difficulty is happening at slow speeds. You need to keep your momentum going that will help get over obstacles, hills, sand, rocks, etc and will keep the bike up. I know, its hard to overcome the fear. The other thing is STAND UP! You will have much better control and balance when you stand. You should practice both skills in an open area until it feels comfortable and you can do it all faster. It will help you on these trails. Also - trust your brakes. They will work even on dirt! Good luck and keep it up.

This is inspirational for real. I have rode those trails so many times and wouldn't imagine doing it on a 650 but I might try it now! The name of the game on single track like this is speed and momentum. When you see hard things or steep hills run at them.

Just bought a KLR after being mostly bike-less for a few years lol This video reminds me of a lot of times offroading my pickup that i daily drive (and almost had to leave on a trail) same kinda language haha. Hi from Australia Bill.i have to admire your intuition..Kawasaki designed the KLR for highways and gravel roads or going around Australia..great bike.The gearing and tyres are not meant for that really rough stuff.They are a super dependant bike.I own a 1984 KLR 600 .the Grandfather of KLR s and its been around the clock with one top end rebuild..When they get hot some get hard to start and i only have kick start so difficult at times.Im 58 now and i have had great times on my bike including single trail.Keep up the determination and having a go.I have had my KLR since 1989..Thanks Dallas

I've owned that exact bike for almost a year and ridden close to 5, 000 clicks. I highly recommend two crucial upgrades! Upgrade to better foot pegs (tusk👍) and off road tires (Dunlop D606s 👍) and they will change your ride and your life‼️ Just my honest opinion @55 & 5th bike in 35yrs.
