I was following your videos & I would like to highlight a few things.

1. Club Kachodi is a dish that’s not popular amongst Bengalis. It’s a dish sold mostly at Marwadi stores. The actual kachodi which Bengalis eat is Hing Kachodi. It’s the size of a luchi/poori served either with Alu Dum street style or a sabzi of alu & daal mixed. It’s found everywhere & more or less all stores make it brilliantly. My favourite is Airport Sweets near Airport Gate No.1. That’s the actual kachodi.

2. If you have come to Kolkata, try the authentic bengali cuisine which is supremely underrated & hidden. From freshwater fish like Boal, Bhetki, Rui, Pabda, Parshe - try these different fish items cooked in different styles. Try Hilsa in 2-3 style. Have dhokar dalna, echorer dalna, shukto, muri ghonto, potoler dorma - these are veg dishes which will blow your mind.

3. Explore the Telebhaja (fritters) of Kolkata. Try Alu’r Chop, Beguni, Mochar Chop, Vegetable Chop, Fuluri to understand that there’s a seperate evening snack items only found in Kolkata which has a blend of British-Bengali blend. Explore Pice Hotels & Old Food Cabins.

4. Try the kabirajis, cutlets & fish fingers of Kolkata. The mughlai parathas.

5. Try the rich Kolkata main course dishes like Basanti Pulao, Mutton Kosha, Mutton Duckbunglow, Chicken Bharta, Chicken chaap, Desi Murgir Jhol, Chicken Rezzala.

6. Go to Chinatown, the birthplace of Indian Chinese. Try the exquisite indo-chinese dishes from Golden Joy to Beijing to Tung Nam

I genuinely love your vibe, your enthusiasm & your wit. But unfortunately you have not explored Kolkata in real & I was appalled to see so many Bengali collaborators also didn’t share the real essence of Kolkata with you.

Hope you’re able to experience the real essence of the city & explore the city in its truest sense.
