Electronic evidence refers to any information that is stored or transmitted in electronic form. The Indian Evidence Act, 1872 did not previously acknowledge the admissibility of digital evidence. Section 65B was introduced in the year 2000 through the Indian Evidence (Amendment) Act, 2000 and it contains provisions pertaining to the admissibility of electronic evidence by Indian Courts.
