Euro 2024 is the first time Georgia have qualified for a major international football tournament as an independent nation.

The Kingdom of Georgia is regarded as one of the world's oldest states, lasting for almost a millennia. And on the pitch Georgians were always well represented in the Soviet Union national team.

But now they represent more than just football. Georgia's national team has been drawn into a political scandal.
