After the Oakland mayor's race was decided by a razor-thin margin, the Oakland branch of the NAACP says there should be a recount, not to change the outcome, but to get a better understanding of how little the voters understand the city's ranked-choice voting system. John Ramos reports. (12/20/22)

I'll put it out there. If the results went the other way, they probably won't be asking for a recount.

Everyone wanted rank choice until their candidate didn't win

NAACP should pay for it. Don't ask taxpayers to pay for their political motives.

If we had ranked choice voting everywhere, this country would crease to be so polarized. If people need to be better educated on how it works, that's fine, but we should absolutely keep ranked-choice voting.

It is true that many voters will vote for their favorite candidate in multiple rounds which spoils their vote and they are not aware.

I don’t think Libby 2.0 is a hill that the NAACP wants to lose on. Not worth it. I could see if he fought to keep schools open, or fought to protect the hundreds who have become homeless due to greedy developers/landlords, but I’m sorry but rank choice has been around with no complaints since Jean won????
