Across all performances and all weight categories over the last two years one performance stands above the rest. The most impressive performance of the year belongs to Indonesia's new Olympic champion, Rizki Juniansyah!

In this training session he snatches up to 160kg and clean and jerks 195kg, attempting 200kg. Several days later and he would break the world record total with 365kg, defeateing the world number 1 at the time, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, and the Olympic champion Shi Zhiyong.

This week there's PON (National sports multievent) on Indonesia and Rahmat & Rizki split their ways, Rahmat still on 73kg and rizki on 89 kg, Both won gold on their each class respectively. It seems Rahmat Rizki battle will end sooner than we expect as the Indonesian federation cannot lost the opportunity to send 2 of their best lifter to different classes on LA28.

As great as Rizki is, and as much as he deserved his Olympic slot and his gold medal, l feel like the events of the past year are just the beginning of one of the great weightlifting rivalries of all time, and l expect that Rahmat has learned from his mental mistake in Thailand and has been training very hard since. I bet we're going to see Rizki and Rahmat continue to push each other to ever greater heights over this next quad. It will be magical to see.

This made me want that book even more. The more I learn about weightlifting the more interesting it has become. And it's such a beautiful sport.

It's absolutely mindblowing how he can generate that much power with a normal amount of muscle

GOAT does not mean the current best lifter. It means the best OF ALL TIME. Rizki is great but y'all gotta chill with that term.

Using straps for the clean and jerk is insane! It broke my wrists when I was younger.

I would LOVE to know what Shi Zhiyong could have hit in 2019, or even in Tokyo 2021, if he had anyone even remotely close to him. Beyond Liao Hui, his fellow countryman, nobody was ever close to him. That is, until Rahmat showed up at the 2022 World Championship, and now Rizki.

Could he have done 370? Sadly, his injuries over the years have caught up to him, and now (probably) forced him into retirement.
Great video!

I understand the reasoning behind the Sinclair formula, it was designed to take into consideration lighter lifters lift more lb for lb so it tries to determine what everyone would lift if they were a super but what the supers have different coefficients themselves depending on each lifter’s weight. It seems this system is still quite arbitrary. Subjectively I still think Nassar’s 404 is a hair better than Rizki’s 365. Notice his 365 is exactly 5X his weight. That’s everybody’s target from now on.

He gives me nightmares of Shi Zhiyong C&J.... dominated everyone in the snatch and then that 191

RIZKI JUNIANSYAH. The 'Y' in the 'syah' is pronounced like an 'H' like in shisha. So it's not Junianseeah but Junianshah

Also worth noting that the coerficients for the Sinclair formula are based on the best performances of the previous quad, which in this case happens to be Lasha's all time world records. Thus, all scores in this quad are inflated compared to older performances. Under the same coefficients used in this video, superheavyweight Naim would theoretically total 527, Lu/Kakhi would be 496, and Vardanyan 511 which seem pretty unrealistic imo esp when considering their numbers relative to their peers (versus how far Lasha is ahead of other supers)

TLDR: The Sinclair formula by nature usually downplays the pfp strength of supers, especially when the coefficients are based on the absolute strongest performance in history by an athlete with a gargantuan bodyweight.

Lots of strong indonesians here cause life is hard. Its not just about muscles or bone density, its also about mental fortitude as can be seen in many armwreslters, calisthenics and gymnasts which bodybuilders massively lacking making them weak.

I don't understand the close-up on Rizki's face while he lifts. What does that show us ?

Slight nitpick, "Juniansyah" is pronounced "Joo-nee-ahn-shah" rather than "Joo-neen-shee-ah".

Does anyone know what shoes he's wearing in the training session (the red ones)?
