Why I'm changing the covers on my epic fantasy series

It hasn't been out all that long, but a lot has changed since I first published my epic fantasy series in 2020. After thinking about it for at least 6 months, I finally decided it's time to update the covers for The Snakesblood Saga and try something new. It's hard because the illustrated covers I did for the series are very dear to my heart, but there are a lot of reasons it seemed best to give new covers a try.

Today, I'll be explaining why I decided to change the original covers despite how much I love them, what I looked at and considered when brainstorming new designs, and I'll share some of the mockups for different designs I tried and why they didn't work for what I needed.

It's still too soon for me to know if the change is going to make a difference, but we'll know in a few months. One of the nice things about being an indie author is being able to change things up however many times I need!

I’m still in the writing stage, so thinking about covers is somewhat nebulous, like a galaxy far, far away.
But it was really thought provoking to hear your analytical and creative approach to finalizing a design. Great skills btw, very impressive.
This was a good primer in how to plan a cover that is personal, and faithfully represents content, while walking that thin line of marketing magic.

As a fellow Author and Designer who designs her own covers, I know how it feels until you find the cover you are satisfied with! Hope to corporate with you or work with you on cover design!

Ingram isn't charging anymore I don't think. You can change them for free now, I'm like 95% sure :) Love you art.
