George Senior in my eyes is the perfect Dad, tough, fair and aware of his sons extra needs. My wee boy is autistic, high functioning but still has his moments but I’ve always found that connecting with him this way, letting him come to me just like the scene about the thunder and lightning and playing the eejit that doesn’t know about it strengthens the connection. Whoever wrote this character knows exactly what it’s like.

When I was younger and started watching the Big Bang theory ive always thought that Sheldon should've been raised by Leonard's mother since she was so much like him. Now that I saw Young Sheldon im glad the was raised by George Sr. He wasn't the perfect father but he was the father Sheldon needed. Im gonna be sad when he passes away

That "You be Spock, I'll be Kirk" scene is genuinely heartwarming. A good amount of parents struggle keeping up with fictional shows and characters their children like, especially when it's of a certain genre. But despite George being your average sports dad, he remembered enough about how much Sheldon loved Star Trek to where it was his first idea. He cares enough to try. That's proof he loves his kids.
