Basements with windows are good ~ bad juju gets out. Before I found my current house (2 years ago) I looked at several that had no windows in the baseent and one of them I heard a woman say, as I got to the bottom of the stairs "this home is not for you"! I shot out of there so

I used to have a home built in 1884. Many people died in that home over the 132 years before I purchased it. The original family lost a son, a daughter, and a wife in the first year they lived there. The most recent death was two owners before us. I have friends who are very in-tune with such things, and they said my house was very "busy" with lots of "ghosts." I could occasionally smell them smoking cigarettes. Things would occasionally not be where we left them. Sometimes you could hear the faint crying of a young girl. I never actually saw anything, but my friends did--quite clearly. One even spoke to the most recently deceased owner. I made a deal with all these ghosts--it was their home first, and they were welcome to stay as long as they liked. But only if they didn't frighten anyone, or damage anything, or hide my stuff. And they had to quit smoking! For the most part, they complied (occasionally breaking that no smoking rule) and we got along just fine for the 5 years I lived there.

I have what is called either a daylight or walkout basement. My house looks single story in the front, two-story in the rear. My basement opens directly to the outside from the rear. Only basement type I will own.

We have to have basement homes cause in Colorado we have tornadoes. Not freaky. Our office down there. All carpet and a bedroom with windows. Five homes here. Nothing scary. Ours now is beautiful.
