Rescue A Woman Stuck In Pond Silt

A Little Wisdom Helps You Become Smarter !
The following steps should be followed when using an excavator to rescue a person trapped in the silt:
Environmental Assessment
- Confirm the depth and hardness of the silt, as well as the physical condition of the trapped person (especially whether the head is exposed).
- Ensure that the foundation of the excavator's working area is stable to avoid secondary collapse when approaching.
Tool Preparation
- If the excavator does not have special rescue attachments, a long wooden board or steel pipe can be temporarily fixed in front of the bucket to increase the force-bearing area.
- Prepare thick ropes, slings or life jackets to fix the trapped person.
Rescue Operation
- Step 1: Slowly push and press the silt around the trapped person with the bucket to form a temporary support platform.
- Step 2: Insert the wooden board or steel pipe horizontally under the armpits or on the back of the trapped person, and gently lift it up with the bucket (be careful to avoid direct contact with the body).
- Step 3: If it is difficult to lift directly, long poles (such as bamboo poles) can be inserted into the silt from the side with the help of manual work to assist in loosening the silt around the trapped person's legs.
- Step 4: Multiple people cooperate to fix the trapped person's chest with ropes, and work together with the excavator to slowly move the person out.
Safety Precautions
- Keep the operation at a low speed throughout the process to avoid the bucket shaking or accelerating suddenly.
- Rescue personnel need to wear anti-slip equipment and maintain a safe distance from the excavator.
- After rescuing the person, immediately check their vital signs, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation if necessary.
