I used to wear rubber and neoprene deck boots as a commercial fisherman and it turns out that they work great for gardening also. The ones that are just above ankle height are just high enough that you can tuck your pant legs into them when its wet out, they don't get too hot, and you can clean them up with a hose at the end of the day. They don't have a lot of tread, which most people probably wouldn't need in their garden, so they also don't track a lot of dirt.

Crocs, both the wife and I when we are doing general garden stuff..but if I'm splitting wood then it's my old work shoes

Slip on welly shoes are my recommendation. They are wellington plimsolls that don't cover the ankle. When I'm not digging and need to step over the beds to harvest crops they are ideal for nipping and popping out to the produce patch when in the middle of cooking.

The soles of them would fill with must and dirt and be a nightmare to clean out. might be good for the wood but not for the dirt

Here in New Zealand we have a brand called Red Band. They are high quality aimed at farmers. Don't get cheap wellys from the sports store, they are poorly made from bad materials.

I am particular about shoes also. They have to feel comfortable as well as durable. I wear a pair of walking shoes on my allotment. Your new trainers look the business.

Winter wellies? You want Dunlop Blizzard... Insulated, warm down to -15°c.

Use them for winter dog walks myself... Comfy, warm, waterproof... What more do you want 🤷🏼‍♀️

won't these have issue with much and then washing it will result in wet shoes that takes a long time to dry?

probably better to get shoes e.g. clogs or whatever than can wash and dry quick

Worn out leather walking boots, with nearly smooth soles. Avoid fabric boots as they all seem to leak after prolonged use and fit elastic for laces so they are easy to put on and get off

Lisa uses wellies or shes barefoot. I usually wear my sandals however after having a rusty nail going straight through into my foot I moved upto pumps 😂😂. Keep saying I'm going to get wellies but may have to try pair out. I love the idea of slip on 👍🏻

I wear my old Timberland Boots 🥾 and they are brilliant! They looked too worn and scuffed to be worn when I go out so thought to wear it in the garden to get a bit more out of them and nearly 3 years on they are still going! I hope your magic boots saves the day 😁! They look good on. P.s I also have hobbit feet 🦶and I have the exact same problems you mentioned!!! 🤦‍♀️

They look really nice on you. I have diabetic feet... no feeling so I go bare foot in the garden myself. I mow and whipper snip/line trimmer with no shoes 😂😂
