Thanks Mark a good overview. Going back to 1960s I was an apprentice and we usually had the same company audits repeating assignments every year. But not this one and the FCCA I worked for said we are no longer handling ABs audit. He told me the reason and said business like that we can do without. This was something that I held to during my career.
A big question when you can't change the ethics of a company . Do you stay or leave? You need to be honest and trustworthy able to other considerations before your own.
Also you will need courage to establish, develop and maintain ethical standards: you will be against often senior executives who will do anything protect their perks.
Sadly there is much evidence that unethical standards are present and visible in business and public sector organisations in the UK today. However we need to go forward and
implement ethical standards. Facing up to personal challenges along the way.
