Eagles are majestic birds of prey known for their sharp talons, powerful beaks, and keen eyesight. They are found all over the world and are considered apex predators in many ecosystems. However, despite their fearsome reputation, eagles are actually one of the worst animal mothers in the wild. Female eagles lay one to three eggs per year, but they often neglect or even kill their weaker or smaller chicks in favor of the strongest one.
In addition, eagle chicks grow rapidly and need constant care and feeding, but the parents may not always provide enough food or attention. As a result, many eagle chicks die of starvation or exposure, and only a small percentage survive to adulthood.

Most of your facts are correct, except that eagle mothers don't necessarily kick their baby's out of the nest. They would actually just begin to bring less food to the nest when the chick's are a certain age and almost completely feathered. This would encourage the chick's to fledge and try hunting for themselves. The family might even stay together for a few months before the chick's are ready to completely leave them.

Don't know which bald eagles you're watching but mom eagles are very protective of their eggs and babies. They don't push their chicks out of the nest. Eaglets go through a process of exercising wings, branching and fledging the nest once they have flight feathers. The parents continue to feed ttheir eaglets for weeks at the nest and off the nest until it leaves for good.

They aren't all bad. They have another eagle up in Canada that brought in a baby hawk and started feeding it. Not the first time this has happened. 🦅🦅🦅

Typically, young egals have flight feathers and are as big as adults, before they have to fend for themselves.

Alright, for starters, in some bits you used hawk footage instead of eagle footage. Secondly, eagles do NOT push their chicks off their nest and are not “hands off parents”. They care for their chicks very well, feeding them regularly, cleaning them, and going out of their way to ensure their chicks well being, even using their wings as an “umbrella” at times to protect them from the rain or shading them from the heat. They will care for their chicks until they fledge, but even after they will still feed the juvenile for a bit until It can fully care for itself. The video you used of the eagle knocking the chick out of the nest was from the two harbors eagle nest cam, you took it without giving credit then used it out of context. The mother eagle accidentally knocked the chick out of nest when taking off, but in no way was it on purpose. You can go watch the eagle nest cams if you want to see how good eagles are at parenting.

I have watched a lot of eagle nest cameras. I’ve never seen an eaglet get pushed out by mom. 🤔. Yes, the 1st hatched will pick on the younger badly. But it’s amazing how all will be well in long run. Also seen eagles morn the death of eaglet. Have seen other eagle come flying in & snatch an eaglet. Nature has the good, bad & ugly.
