Quick guide on how to find where steam installed/stores your game files quickly and easily. Just go to your steam library. Right click the game you want to find the files for, and then click "Properties". In this menu go to local files, then there should be a "Browse" button you can click to go directly to where steam is storing the files for your game. This guide is updated for 2023.

For those who can't find local files, it's now called installed files.

Mine doesn’t even give me the option to browse files, all it gives me under the installed files tab is “move install folder” and “verify integrity of game files”

How do I find the games installation folder? I'm trying to install GFV and it says to extract it into the games installation folder. How do I find that or extract this to that? I feel like I'm doing fucking rocket science just to figure out how to mod my game.

I keep clicking on Browse, but it doesn't do anything. I also search for my game's name on my computer, but the only file I find is the icon on the desktop. Steam hides these files for some reason. There used to be an ability to download or manage custom maps, and put them in folders, but it is no longer available, since it seems like the folders are hidden by Steam. I hate that when I pay for a program, but I still can't have full access to it because the system is overly protected. We need to boycott these companies who do this.
