That is no longer the way. The newest version prevents you from running the file after download. It says you have to go into settings to disabled the recommended settings for Microsoft Edge. I don’t see in the settings how to disabled recommended files to be downloaded from the Windows store only. I do not see how to bypass this and it’s pretty annoying . I am a few steps away from returning all the new laptops I got and go with Chrome Book or Apple Mac Book air or pro

You need to add how to turn the S mode off in Windows 11. That is a problem if you read down.
