Special Prosecutor legislation to protect government resources, penalize corrupt conduct

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre has employed a zero tolerance approach to corrupt conduct by public officials. To safeguard state resources from misappropriation and abuse by public officials, the Pierre Administration has introduced progressive legislation in the House of Assembly to enact a Special Prosecutor. The Special Prosecutor Act empowers the Special Prosecutor to initiate investigations into complaints and reports received by the public and also institute criminal and civil actions against any public official suspected of corrupt conduct.
