Many people have asked me over the years how I control the Da Vinci robot during surgery. Even more are eager to see what the device looks like when they come into the operating room for the first time.... patients and staff alike! This short video was taken during a robotic prostatectomy performed for the management of localised prostate cancer. In it you can have a look at the patient cart but mainly the surgeon consul and in particular how the instruments are controlled to perform surgery.
