I hated history all thecway thru 12th grade. When I took my first history class in college, the prof ssid "We're not going to memorize names and dates. If you get the timeline to which half of a century, that'll be good enough. We're going to be discussing WHY these things happened. What were the causes, and the ramifications of the events."
I was hooked and remain so to this day mamy decades later.
