For those who don’t know, when iguro was a child he was brown into a family where they obeyed a snake demon and they gave their babies to this cruel demon to survive but iguro was the first boy born in hundreds of years and the demon took a liking to his eyes and the demon forced his family to cut his mouth to make little slits like the demons mouth so he wears that mask to cover his trauma. Ok so basically Obanai was born in a family where there was only women for 370 years, every man would be killed and or sacrificed to the female serpent demon . Obanais family kept him in a cage. Once he was 12 he was taken to the serpent demon now, usually as soon as a man is born into a family they immediately would get killed and or sacrificed but Obanai was spared because he had beautiful eyes they 2 Color’s. While he spent his life in the cage he made friends with a snake who he named kaburamaru ( sorry if I spelt that wrong ) when he was brought to the serpent demon she saw his eyes and wanted to spare him and make him like her, she cut the ends of his mouth with a knife or her claws, idk the rest but senjuro Rengoku came and saved him and than one of obanais cousins came to tell him that because of him everyone died. It might be wrong but I just wrote what I remembered about obanais backstory

Iguro obanai wears a mask bc his mouth has a scar on his mouth and his scared to show it. It's bc he doesn't wanna get bullied or made fun of his look. His past will explain bc a demon cutted his mouth to cheek to cheek and locked him into a cage and gave him the snake to protect Obanai. This is why Obanais breathing is Serpent. His snake is serpent snake (I guess?) So Obanai named his breathing Serpent breathing.

For those who don't know so this boy name is obanai iguro he was in a family who worshipped snake demon who eat children and obanai was always looked in a prison when obanai turn 12 yr old his family take him to snake demon but the snake demon said that she will eat him when he become bit older and order his family to cut his mouth👄 and looked obanai in the prison again but obanai was tired all of this so he decide to run away but the snake demon know that he escape so she going to catch him but the flame hashira renguko father saved him

Ok so basically why he has that thing on his face is because:

He was in a family where there was only girls and his family worshipped a snake demon so when he was born he was a sacrifice so he grew up (a bit ) and when he was like 13or smth idk he was given to the demon but he escaped the demon and his family and one of the other current hashiras found him and he joined the demon slayer Corp but before he escaped his mouth was slashed from ear to ear (a bit smaller though) and also because he escaped his family got killed by the demon

so basically his family wanted girls he was like the first family born guy, they worshipped this like snake lady. so his parents one day sacrificed him to the snake lady who gave him scars and he escaped to the demon slayer corps where he fights to kill demons ❤️❤️
