Total knee arthroplasty is indeed a major surgery. However it has been routinely performed in a lot of centres and the success of a total knee replacement is about 98 to 99 %. Though it is a routine surgery, it has its own advantages, complications, risks and benefits. The disadvantages particularly of an artificial joint is very much obviously as it can never replicate a normal original knee joint, however the surgery is done particularly to give a very painless, mobile, and stable joint. So a knee replacement arthroplasty tends to give us all these advantages.
