This book is so good. It really does teach new tricks to DMs and players

Base line, they have oni is so great for this.
I had players go though a misty valley ruin and one of the NPCs was actually an oni beat one play iced a cone of others and stealthed out letting them alone laughing as they let them lick their wounds.

The Bagman is the specific creature I'm building for October's game run. SOO much potential there!

In one of my games I had sahuagin, merrow and deep scion as a cult of Dagon. They were drowning a son of a duke as part of a ritual the party had to stop. If they didn't the boy would die and unbeknownst to them revive as a deep scion himself.

It’s fun before lockdown I used some of these techniques. when I used descriptions and mannerisms in person I would act them out without ever mentioning the creatures name or gave a creature an ability like spiders who could both survive the mists and be able to teleport while mimicking children (curse of strand I was doing)
