As a Necrons player it feels like Dad came into the room and gave us a motorbike because we are his favourite child and mum's about to take everyone's bikes away because she thinks we are "going to fast". That said, I'm not looking forward to mum coming in with the nerf hammer when she realises the damage Dad has done.

Before I even get there Death Guard only gaining stuff and not having points changes makes us not getting new Blightlord datasheets the most confusing thing in the world to me.

Sisters getting hit that hard at a 50% winrate is rough, heres hoping we get some interesting points drops in march to encourage more varied builds now that miracle dice have been nerfed to hell.

As someone who plays Necrons, Custodes, and a Salamanders successor, I made out like a bandit on this one. Big issue now is decision paralysis on what I want to paint next and try out!

the worst part of the balance dataslate suprise drop is there's now a delay with new recruit updating the newer grotmas detachments :(

I genuinely have no clue as to why sisters got zero points decreases. Our army rule got gutted and we get zero consolation. It would not have been such a massive feels bad moment if we got ANY points decreases to the really weak units.

The nerf to Retaliation Cadre by way of the universal 3" deepstrike nerf still seems incidental and more like an oversight than intentional. The whole way the Shortened Blade strat was written in accordance with the detachment rule (and also the way Fusion Blasters work) felt like it was a very intentional and well thought out core strategy of that detachment. It just fit very neatly like 40k rules seldom do and with the nerf, it completely falls apart.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have nerfed 3" deep strike, I just think they should have looked at a special case like Retaliation Cadre and said: "Ok, how can we make this work?". Obviously though, they didn't look at T'au at all or only in passing at most with this dataslate. The strat is still at 2 cp and now pretty much useless, they slapped a hefty points increase on a model the vast majority of players probably don't even own and the Stormsurge is still wildly overcosted. Meh.

GW "That sounds a lot like heresy. Stomp them dead."

The Sisters Miracle dice change just smacks of post codex panic and manager interference. It completely misunderstands the importance of MD in both fuelling abilities and compensating for lack-lustre stat lines and weapon choices in the Sisters army. More importantly it doesn't even address the alleged "feels bad" of having them used against you. That some people seem to have decided that dice manipulation is cheating is a shame because actually its a really interesting tactical part of the game on both sides, but even if we accept the premise its a problem cutting the number in half doesn't fix it. It already happens only a handful of times in game, people just fixate on those occasions and ignore the vast majority of rolls where it isn't being used, all they've done is make it more swingy.

A better fix while keeping MD would be introduce a bell curve to curtail the very high (and very low) MD. Make generating a MD be roll 2d6 and take half the value (rounded up or down depending if you want to slightly emphasise higher or lower value dice). That way you can still let the sisters player generate plenty of dice to supplement their abilities and make up for some pretty poor chances to wound most tough stuff in the game, while cutting back on what I suspect is the real problem of 6s being swapped in sticking in peoples minds.

18:37 I think the ravenwing buffs are the signal that they want to empty the stocks of black knites and we could expect a new kit in the next year or so

The annoying thing is they've done this exact change to miracle dice before and reverted it because it was too big a nerf. Here's hoping they'll actually learn something when they revert it for the second time.

Honestly even as an Ultramarines player, I'll 100% take this. A lot of my units feeling useful is well worth the tax on Uriel and Marneus. I feel Uriel in particular was really good and I might still want to use him, but there was a lot of feeling like party tricks were a crutch a bad army was leaning on. It feels like Codex SM's suffered that all friggin edition, so if that's no longer the case, I'm happy.

Also having my primarch feel like a solid option again is also nice.

EDIT: Also, my god...Sisters are getting the SM treatment, I am so sorry. :(

Latest aggregate tournament stats looking a winrates since the october mfm had sisters at 46.9% overall winrates. Sub 47%. These changes got cooked up 5 months ago and then completely forgotten about while the points cuts fixed the problem in the meantime. I can see no other explanation for the sisters getting shafted *this* hard.

Literally, we might see the lowest winrates any army has had all edition from the sororitas now

I'm hording up with my Deathwatch...3 Indomitor kill teams with heavy bolt rifles/heavy bolters, backed up by inceptors and vanilla Heavy intercessors for obj. scoring. Deathwatch bolters are the buisness with built-in lethal hits, strength 5, AP-2 and dam 2. Oath, furor tactics and kraken rounds make them even deadlier. Not to mention that Indomitor kill teams get +2 strength to their guns against the closest enemy unit and/or +2 strength in melee on the charge.

My imperial guard list has been absolutely smacked for almost 400 points

The core of my lists has been 6 chimeras with 6x10 Cadians inside for a while now, lord solar Leontus was my backline, my action doers were scions or Aquilons.

Basically every aspect of my army that isn’t a tank has been hit, and hit hard
