Don't forget about Orochimaru's knowledge about Jugo's clan. Adding some of that clan's DNA would make it so Mitsuki wouldn't even need to consciously accumulate senjustsu chakra.

I thought Mitsuki's "Sage Mode" was Sage Transformation which is what Jugo's ability is. We've never seen what a perfect snake Sage Mode looked like because Kabuto was injecting himself with Orochimaru's DNA, making him snake like in appearance and he had Jugo's ability to gather nature energy that changed his appearance even more

Not to mention they both get horns in the centre of their foreheads when their transformations are active, Mitsuki speaks to the moon, toneri resides there, similar hair style, it just seems like a dead giveaway

Just imagine Orochimaru making an entire batch of Otstusuki clones with his DNA, to the point where he makes an entire new clan. That way he could live forever since his genes would live on through them. He'd get what he'd always wanted, immortality. Although this probably isn't how he envisioned it. Mitsuki's Power Is Called Sage Transformation, Which Orochimaru Acquired From Jugo's Body, It Allows The User To Undergo A Variant Form Of Sage Mode, But With Noticeable Physical Changes, Such As Growing Extra Limbs And Appendages. Its Basically Sage Mode But With Mods

The Toneri theory has some cracks in it now that Mitsuki was affected by Ada’s enchantment ability, but there’s still a way they can have him be part-Toneri and still affected, just say that when Otsutsuki genetics are diluted to a certain point, they can be affected by Ada’s ability. Toneri probably isn’t a pure Otsutsuki since the clan was on the moon for over a thousand years, and Mitsuki is at best, half Toneri, so yeah Mitsuki wouldn’t be very Otsutsuki if he is part Otsutsuki.

Don't forget about the half body of Madaras Ten Tails Mode that was left on the battle field. Orichimaru could have taken his body and made Mitsuki.

And Snake sage mode is the strongest sage mode of all four sage modes

To be a perfect sage the user should only manifested the shade around the eyes according to their respective summoning animal. Sage transformation is a different concept altogether, such as having the user body undergoing transformation resembling that of animal, example of this case is jiraiya, Kabuto, Jugo, and most probably Mitsuki as well.

mitsuki doesnt look like orochimaru, but he does look exactly like one of the faces you see being consumed by the black sludge in orochimarus transferrance ritual (the episode where sasuke kills him).

So im assuming some of mitsukis DNA comes from that body, whoever it is.

it’s either a way more refined version of snake sage mode or there are otstusuki elements added to it because even urashki was really impressed with it
