Metallica - Seek and Destroy (Loud Cliff Burton Bass)

This song sounds so cool like that! You can hear every note Cliff plays... I used the multitrack file and since I had access to all isolated tracks, I obviously mixed them the way I wanted to: I got rid of James' rhythm guitar during Kirk's solos (nothing personal, James!). I turned James' vocals up and it sounds more contemporary like that. I turned Lars' drums down a bit cause he really likes them loud, lol. That way Cliff's bass comes to life and when Kirk soloes it's the coolest thing cause Cliff can provide rhythm and harmony to the band without electric guitars getting in the way. Metallica sounds like a 70s rock band that way, with just one lead guitarist and a lead singer, with the bass player providing rhythm and foundation. This is just a new perspective on an amazing band, they're absolutely great the way they are, but with a fresh mix like this one you can tell that things could sound very different if the leaders of the band were Cliff and Kirk, for example. I hope you guys like it! (especially all the bass players out there, this is our revenge agains producers who mix our instrument really low in the mix).

By the way, my role here wasn't just simply of adjusting volumes: I mastered this track, you can tell it sounds much louder than the original, I used compressors, brickwall limiters, equalizers, etc. So it's an original production as well. I felt like I could be Metallica's engineer for a day, lol.

James Hetfield's voice during these albums was freaking savage;
he sounds like a roaring dragon.
