As a special needs parent to a child who is non verbal, there are many many days where we have to wonder and assume for ourselves that Sebastian has cognitive and intentional moments with us. Moments where we know, “he’s in there somewhere”.

Something as simple as brushing his own teeth tonight… it was one of those moments. A, “There he is. We know he’s in there” 🥹❤️

Beyond privileged to love this boy and continue to watch his brain make connections. True pride. Even in the little things.

Kiddos who are not verbal understand everything...they know the tone of language, the feel of the words used to communicate with them...just because they are not able to speak does not mean they don't understand language and cues...As a former teacher for special needs kiddos, I think they understood far better than many others...We need to ALWAYS remember their ability to communicate is just a bit different, never absent! ❤
