Simple- if someone turns down the opportunity to carbon date the thing- twice- for FREE- that really smacks of " hoax".

The "stone" looks like calcite. Calcite can form around objects in a matter of a few years.

If the hammer were removed from the concretion and shown to have "Made in Pittsburgh" cast on the other side of it, Carl Baugh would continue to insist that was an out-of-place artifact.

Why would creationists want to maintain the belief that it is hundreds of millions of years old when they claim that the earth is six thousand years old?

The wood handle should be petrified no? Also the metal should be rusted to dust?

According to the history channel, the metal has been analyzed. If I recall, 96.6% iron. And two other elements I can't remember, sorry. HOWEVER.... Not a trace of carbon. Zero. Even today...we cannot completely eliminate carbon from the metal making process. If this is very strange. You gotta give it that much!

So a guy with literal time travel technology has a hammer that looks likes it from the 1900s

As soon as I heard that creationists were involved the story lost all credibility. Sorry guys. This is a hoax..

Without photos of this object in its original condition or the remnants of the rest of the rock it cannot be taken serious. Holes could be drilled in the rock and the hammer inserted.

Uh. don't creationsists believe the earth is less than 10000 years old?

Youtube is for videos...not voice recordings

The rock could be old, and even the handle could be from an ancient tree...but the hammer itself can only be dated via the metal(s) that compose it. You cannot ‘carbon date’ metal. Sure, the materials in it could be millions of years old...but it could have been forged a hundred years ago easily.
After all, these are mined resources deep in the ground - they’re by default, already extremely old.

It looks like a pickaxe and seashell dropped by a miner a or pioneer a long time ago. It doesn't look millions of years old

Just noticed that it looks like an olden days railway track hammer and not a general constitution sledge hammer the sort of thing you might find if time traveling settlers had lost it
