Teenager is the song that sets the stage to be soul crushed for the rest of the album. Knife party, Korea, Passenger, Change, Pink Maggot. The back half of White Pony is truly a beautiful monster

My interpretation:

The first verse to me is describing growing up with unfit parents

Then the chorus describes how when you grow into your new self as a teenager, nobody can or wants to understand you, and you may not even understand yourself or your purpose.

2nd verse is the break ups, and emotional rollercoaster of how quick life changes from teenager to adulthood. Friends stop hanging out, people move for better jobs etc.

So many ways to interpret this. I love it and speaks to my own personal life.

I remember being obsessed with White Pony back in 2014, when I was 16. Hearing this song hurt though, because I had a huge crush on a girl who was already taken, and the process of letting go took so long. We were friends, but I definitely wished she took me me over him. Seven years later, I can finally say that I've moved on. Both of us seem to be happy in our careers, and I'm simply satisfied with being independent and single.

Reminds me when I was 23 and dating this dime piece 18 year old girl from my home town I met at the gym back in 2013 she made me feel like I was a teenager again no worries about bills but she was living for the weekend just graduated HS and I was in college worrying about my future and college tuition bills and I discovered this song at that time, as she left me because she saw I couldn’t give her the time she deserved it left this hole in my heart that I haven’t been really able to fill even going through many women since 2013 she gave me a different feeling I can’t explain.... now 33 married with a women I do love and two kids a part of me still yearns for that feeling she gave me..
