A United States Air Force B-47 Stratojet bomber, carrying a nuclear bomb, experienced a mid-air collision with an F-86 Sabrejet fighter plane during a training exercise. As a result of the collision, the nuclear bomb was accidentally released over the residential area of Mars Bluff.
