New bucket list item unlocked! When the U.S. Navy Blue Angels practice at NAS El Centro, they stay low—real low. And as they scream down the runway, you know they’re thinking, “Who’s getting my Blue Angels Wake Turbulence Dust-Off today?”

If you were flying that Super Hornet, you’d be thinking the same thing: “Eat my dust!” And for the photographers standing on their cars outside the fence… well, they’re about to experience the ultimate wake turbulence dust-off firsthand!

Ive been working at NAF El Centro for 27 years now. It’s always an honor and a pleasure working with them and watch them take off the runway every morning. 👍🏽👍🏽

I had this happen to me at the end of the runway at Glenview NAS. I was standing on my Honda, and had a f-14 blow my whole lunch off the trunk. I think when they see somone on a car, it becomes a challenge. Oh, and I am silly enough.

2008, Hornets doing training at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia. I was with my mother in her 50ish model Beetle (pre seatbelts?) we were driving past the runway path while they were taking off again, he seen his opportunity the whole time he was coming down that runway and took it😂 We went from the road to within a few feet of the fence real quick!

That's a lot more than wake turbulence. Lots of engine blast!

I recall teeing off next to Centennial runway, Colorado. And hearing two F/A 18s take off next to me. It was the loudest sound, no the top-fuel dragsters were. But they are LOUD

Who else just thought of a new way to remove paint hands free 😂

I'd stand there and take a dose of freedom dust.

It amazes me that we’ve only had planes for 122 years

I have to be honest on this, I do get the attraction to wanting to feel the power

I hauled a lot of hay off that base over the years so glad we where off to the side stacking hay on the truck

It’s a core memory of mine growing up in SoCal and going out on desert trips with my family and we’d always see the Blue Angels practicing.

I'd guess they were also blasted with a brief moment of intense heat along with the dust.

I’m surprised they let them do this. You always hear about pilots like getting in trouble for going too low on flybys at stadiums etc. glad to see somebody is showing russia how it’s done.
