I cannot believe this 46-second video just changed the way I'll look at matrix multiplication forever. Seriously thank you so much. I always struggled with matrix multiplication for non square matrices and even sometimes for square ones. I could do it but slowly, and almost always needed to show work on paper. And I'm generally very gifted at math (I teach it for a living). I think it's because in my head i was using the numerical part of my brain for everything (both indices and the numbers in the matrix). Now I can see the shape of the answer visually in a way I'd never been able to picture it before. Minutes after watching this I can now multiply matrices of various shapes quickly and in my head. It just used a geometric part of my brain I hadn't used for this before. This actually is life changing for someone who values their math skills as I do. Thanks a million

Lol, as a programmer, I always forget how to multiply matrices despite using them all the time conceptually (sometimes I just forget the order of stuff, okay!). Good video, this is my canonical method now.

Visualizations like this are very useful to memorize (subtle) things. I plan to make more visualizations like this (with powerpoint haha) for stuff learned at school so I could easier remember them

i see the left matrix as a linear transformation function and linearly combine them with each column vector in the 2nd matrix as index-wise scalars.
