Comodo Internet Security 8.2 review

The new Comodo Internet Security 8.2 comes with enhancements. Comodo are clearly trying to aim for a bigger userbase. But what does that mean for security? How with this product do against serious testing? Find out!

I would like to remind everyone that the HIPS was deactivated for this test. I would never recommend running Comodo without the HIPS, even if it is the default setting. The AV is probably at its lowest setting too. I really wish testers would do a set of tests with everything turned all the way up, instead of doing these "default settings only" tests. Not everyone runs with default settings.

That "C:\vroot\harddiskvolume2\*" folder, is Comodo's virtualised location therefore anything inside that location means it is currently running virtually. 
Meaning hitman pro detected something that is unable to do harm.

However as you showed it stayed running after you relaunched it so that is very strange, perhaps report it on Comodo's forum that this file bypassed its sandbox?
I think the problem is when you execute the sandboxed files from within Comodo's virtualised location, they don't get sandboxed again and are allowed to run, but as you said, noone is going to go into Comodo's sandbox location and run random exes.

Hi PC Security Channel, thanks for sharing. This video for whatever reason seem very convoluted with regards to the sandbox features. I've even read somewhere that hackers are trying to comprise those features and I was wondering if that was what was happening. It was very interesting to say the least.

Wouldn't you run the Comodo scanner first before the second opinion scanners just to see if it would detect anything 12:17?

I've been using CIS for almost 3 years; with this version, I find some Windows updates getting auto-sandoxed so they run but never show installed (Win7); last month this version let through "Dregol" trojan-like PUP hijacking all browsers including portable on removable USB; though I removed all "Dregol" bits I knew of, it took CIS a week to (properly) find a numbered Dregol-related archive in appdatatemp with legacy reg key; odd no "Unrecognized Files" option this version. Thanks for the review! I have always had great luck with Zonealarm Free Firewall. Was thinking of installing Comodo. Glad I didn't!

At least it was good to see that sandboxed items analyzed by cloud engine and reported as unknown malware. This is rare feature also detection speed is pretty fast.

Which suite do you recommend for all around security? Meaning anti virus, anti malware and browsing security? Or is there a 2 program solution that is better? Thank you

I'm going down the free security route soon and I think I'll combine an antivirus with Comodo firewall instead of using CIS.

I highly recommend the Comodo Internet Security since, I have used Comodo free internet security for earlier Windows versions. But when I upgraded to Windows 10 I thought that I would stick to Norton. Performance was not good and started getting unwanted pop-ups, and the system became slow. Switched to Comodo Internet Security for Windows 10, and problems have been solved.
