I went to two Nissan dealerships to try and get the new lease deal on the Frontier. Magically there’s an additional 5k of BS woven into the terms. Everything would end up costing you $413 per month and that was for the S trim that was only supposed to $99 per month. This is why dealerships need to go away.

There’s been ZERO manufacturer dealers in NJ that i’ve come across that is/was willing to negotiate dealer fee… the other mom & pop shops I wont touch, but a few of them when I inquired said “well it’ll be based on the price of the car”. Major red flag, so hard pass!

Beware that some lease agreements contain a purchase option "fee" at normal termination. This is usually $250 or so. Also, when you exercise the lease purchase option, it's a taxable sale of the vehicle to you. You will owe sales tax on the purchase amount.

Can't avoid the lease DP if the manufacturer based lease asks for one. Those types are usually locked as prescribed.

@yaa. Money factor question. When dealer shows me his money factor notebook showing rates, how do I find out if there was a markup? I am looking at both Subaru ascent and Toyota Sienna limited. My fico is 820.

Question. Have a 2020 passport EXL AWD, and the lease ends in September. As of now, it has 16.5k miles. The residual value is about 25-26k. The actual value now is about 31-32K. I really like the vehicle, and thinking of buying it out. My question is, if I extend my lease for another 3 months and make an extra 3 payments. Does that lower the residual amount? Or does it remain the same and extending was a waste making 3 extra payments?
