As someone who read the whole manga + watched whole series down to the last episode, I would say that this fight is pretty much even depending how far it goes and here's why: Akaza's compass needle grows stronger each time the harder his opponent fights and Gyomei having tremendous strength and fighting spirit further enhances this technique. On the other hand if Gyomei has his demon slayer mark + transparent world vision and also manages to hit both his frail and axe together to temporary make them red ( like he demonstrated he can do it by himself in manga ) he will have apprehend as damage taken from red colored weaponry is pretty much devastating to most demons as we saw Muochiro's blade completely disect Kokushibu from where he got stabbed. Giving the fact that Gyomei will need time to achieve DS mark + transparent world as the fight goes on, Akaza will also have time to observe his skills and abilities and his comlass will grow stronger as well. I would say Gyomei has slight apprehend overall as he kept up with both Muzan and Kokushibu for impressive ammounts of time. So if the fight goes long enough, he will have both DS mark, transparent world + red weapons which means either he will destroy Akaza or just hold him until sunlight. Of course he will sustain injuries but nothing life-threatening.

Also, giving the fact that he is monk-type mentality Hashira, he can pretry much do the same thing as Tanjiro did and temporary deplete his fighting spirit to confuse Akaza's compass needle. In that milisecond the final strike with red weapons will destroy Akaza's body making it's regeneration extremely slow, giving Stone Hashira plenty of time to finish the job. But - once again, there are many scenarious how this fight will go. I would say Gyomei either wins with very high difficulty with moderate injuries or he holds Akaza until sunlight if he is unable to make his weapons red. He won't die to Akaza but won't neccessarily be able to solo-kill him either. Either way my vote goes with Gyomei. :)
