First Rolleiflex with a 2.8 Xenotar was the 2.8C released for 1953. The Aurum was announced in 1982, released in 1983. A 30 year celebration.

Great video! According to Ian Parker, due to high demand, a second series of 1500 was made, so in total, around 2700 / 3000 Aurum were produced.

I remember after the Aurum a 2.8 Platin edition was produced a few years later. Around 500 were produced but the rrp of $9000 was hefty, and less conspicuous. Too sad I couldn't afford it. However, I'm extremely satisfied with my 3.5 Planar's superb performance.

Holy Grail indeed! That piece of art is painfully beautiful. I fell in love with TLRs when I got my Yashica Mat, which is still my favorite camera. Thanks for sharing!

Luv your crisp nostelgic Rolleiflex camera design T-shirt! I purchased one with similar idea in what translated to "Flower St" from Cantonese in Hongkong some 20 yrs ago. The lady who sells it at the stall will print it out instantly after you select the white T-shirt size and she accidently iron the Rolleiflex camera logo upside down which i thought was neat as Rolleiflex cameras are rather quirky to begin with. Added bonus was it has Andy Worhol signature at the bottom of camera - could'nt authenticate artist actually illustrated it. Anyway, i purchased 2 from her with the other one right side up to mirror the image correctly and has kept it to this very day unworn. Perhaps i should frame both up in homeage to Worhol.
The Aurum certainly is blinky and desirable. Heartening knowing the younger generation still enamoured with Rolleiflex. I do own several Rolleiflexes one being the rather rare bought used Planar 2.8 E3 which professional photographers could custom order features they want or do not need from Rolleiflex for that model at that time. I've subscribed.

Very interesting, and different. I like the 'shadow puppet' at 7.10. I've thought about getting a Rollieflex before. Looking down to shoot actually seems quite subtle and discreet to me. It's a desirable object, although I'm not really an African Lizard type of person.

I own both Rolleis and Yashicas. For some reason I find the Yashica Mats more fun…🤷🏾‍♂️👍🏾😏

FYI. Aurum, the Latin word for gold and the source of its chemical symbol, "Au"

TLRs are really fun quirky cameras (Rolleicord IV shooter here) but I wouldn't shoot with an Aurum because of the unwanted attention! You have a nice set of photos...I especially liked the one at 7:06 with the "You Lucky Dog" neon sign in the window reflection. By the way, is that Dan Tamarkin holding up a lens and behind the display case? And who is the gentleman working on the Barnack Leica and Rolleiflex? Cheers from Vancouver!

Perhaps you should start a second 'Rollergirl' channel, 'If you're rolled up ... ' etc., but wear a false moustache to confuse people.
