Prices are sadly not plummeting in Europe.

I keep hearing youtube tech reviewers say gpu prices are dropping but haven't seen anything

Great video! At 3:30 I had trouble following along. A visual highlight on the numbers you mention would help a lot for future videos. Keep it up man, love it!

I think you're spot on with about oct/sep 2024, and about 50-60% better performance still using the 4nm process but I'd say NVidias will push for a bit higher price, say about 10-15% more than 40 series launch (They’ll call it inflation etc).

By the time we finally decide when the 5090 will be released, it will have already been released.

Do you really think 5090 is going to look so much better than 4090's running at 4k. The games that are out now isn't blowing anyone's hair back.

55% over the 4090 is still insane. I hope NVIDIA chooses the 4 nm option.

Bro prices are not plummeting because the RTX 4090 has not dropped even $1 since it came out

this won't be the consumer version: this is entirely based on the AI bubble, they're not likely to sell anything but a titan with HBM to us consumers. they've developed GDDR7 controllers as well, and have a shipment of that to boot... so great, AI is about to get a boost. i hope these are good for us for gaming and whatnot, but I doubt hardly any of these will make it to even prosumers.

also: HBM would indicate that they're using either intel or TSMC as they're the only ones who can package it on-die. this will make them more expensive. quite a bit more complexity and failures will result from the added packaging complexity.

gpu prices plummeting? I live in Europe and prices generally are rising over here 😜

I thought NVIDIA will release a 4000 refresh in early 2024? That doesn't make sense if they will release the 5000 series ~ 9 - 10 months later. This means that nobody will want their refresh (unless they make it dirt cheap, which I strongly don't believe)

I find it more likely that a 40 refresh will be released at the beginning of next year and that the 50 series will be released in the beginning of 2025.

you think its worth just waiting on upgrading my 1080?

Video is gonna be wrong the 40 series refresh comes in 2024, 5000 series is 2025.

I just saw something saying Nvidia is actually jacking the price on the 4090 FE. The 50 series is going to cost parts of your anatomy.

The rtx 4090 in Europe saw an increase of around €30... This sets the stage for the 4080ti to seem like a good deal.

I don't understand how anybody could have any questions about when the release of RTX 5000 will be. Nvidia has been extremely consistent about releasing new architectures almost exactly every 2 years with some sort of a mid gen refresh in between. I mean, I guess things could play out a little differently this time since they have no competition and it looks like they'll have even less next gen unless Intel surprises us. Lord knows Radeon sure won't. But that's nothing new. I don't think Nvidia even really considers what Radeon is doing since they know they won't be a threat and are comfortable following Nvidia's lead.

TSMC 4nm doesn't make sense for RTX 50, at least for the top end GPUs. RTX 40 uses a custom 4N node, which is an enhanced version of N5. If Nvidia doesn't go with 3nm for RTX 50, they will struggle to increase the performance massively since they won't be able to get a large transistor density increase without going with 3nm. I would rather the 50 Series come out later and use a custom TSMC 3N node. What I could see them doing, and I think this will be a good idea, is if high end and enthusiast RTX 50 GPUs use TSMC 3nm, while entry level and midrange RTX 50 GPUs use 4nm. That would definitely be cheaper for Nvidia to produce and should result in lower prices for entry level and midrange GPUs, which would be good.

Do you know if the rtx 50 series will be gen 5?

A lot of speculation, guessing and rumors here.

And no, the prices for the 4090 have not dropped anywhere.
